Gun Smuggler Revealed A CUSTOMER Purchased 100 M-16 Rifles To Be Used For Duterte's Possible Assassination
During a press conference of the Philippine National Police at Camp Crame in Quezon City, Wilford Palma who's part of the gun smuggling syndicate busted by the authorities said their "number one customer" ordered gun parts which will be used to assassinate President Rodrigo Duterte.
The customer reportedly ordered 100 upper receiving parts, 40 barrel, and 30 bolt assembly which could make 100 M-16 rifles.
"Ang sabi sa akin ng boss ko, 'yung number one customer namin may balak umorder ng lower end gun parts at gagamitin sa assasination ni President Duterte," Palma said.
Palma also admitted that they would not have reported the assassination attempt to the police if they had not been arrested.
Palma's boss is Bryan Ta-Ala, currently confined at an intensive care unit of a hospital in Bacolod due to hypertension.
PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said they believed the buyer of the gun parts is not part of the group hired to kill Duterte but was only asked to purchase the firearms.
“Actually hindi pa natin natumbok itong tao na ito pero most likely hindi siguro siya yung gun for hire. Baka inutusan lang ito ng sindikato na bumili ng ganun para gamitin for that purpose,” he said.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group said they will validate Palma's claim but will also consider him as a witness because of his testimony.
The two were arrested based on information given by the US Homeland Security to the Bureau of Customs which relayed it to the CIDG.
They were nabbed on August 6 at 11 a.m. at Atlas, Villa Cristina Subdivision, Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City.
Confiscated from the suspects was a balikbayan box containing: Trigger Housing Group – 35 pcs; Buffer Spring Lock – 15 pcs; Barrel – 10 pcs; Rail without barrel – 1 pc; Rail with barrel with one (1) suppressor- 1unit; Butt Assembly color black – 10 pcs; Butt Assembly color gray – 5 pcs; Buffer Spring Guide – 15 pcs; Quick Detach Scope Mount - 5 pcs; Upper Receiver (M4 carbine) – 60 pcs; and Beverage Entry Tool – 2 pcs, all of which worth P4.5-million.
Their modus operandi employed using fictitious names and false documents when claiming the packages with the different gun parts which are bought in the US, and shipped to the country through the use of legitimate international cargo forwarders.
The items are then sold to gun enthusiasts across the country through a website and online community called Pinoy Pistol Forum. The gun parts are then shipped to customers using local courier services.
